DIBS ROLES

Volunteer opportunities are posted throughout the season on the Dibs tab. These are some common positions we fill with volunteers throughout the season.

TRYOUTS (Parents may not volunteer at tryout sessions for the level your skater is participating in)

  • Assistant Tryout Coordinator
  • Work with the Tryout Coordinator to organize functions and schedules of tryouts; oversee all tryout volunteers.  
  • Bench Coach
    No coaching experience needed!  Organize tryout shifts/lines using an organized and scheduled matrix by jersey number.  Assist kids as they prepare for next shift.  
  • Locker Room Attendant
    Organize and assign jerseys, assign random shift numbers, help kids get situated and prepared for tryout sessions.
  • Clock Operator
    Run the clock and blow the horn at scheduled intervals for shift changes.

Committee Involvement

Earn Dibs by contributing to a SYHA committee throughout the season and off-season. Dibs awarded depends on involvement level, which is flexible for your schedule!

Committees

  • Recruitment Events - Help out at SYHA events including the Hockey Expo,  School Open Houses, Little Wild Learn to Skate, Intro to Hockey, Try Hockey for Free and more.
  • Mite Party - Help our mites celebrate a successful season by helping to plan or execute an epic party!
  • Sponsorship - Are you a natural salesperson? Work with our sponsorship committee to help secure sponsors to add value and reduce costs for our association.
  • Fundraising - Do you have some great fundraising ideas for offsetting association costs? Get involved with fundraising!
  • Marketing/Communications - Is graphic design your thing? Or are you a talented writer, media relations, or marketing professional? We can use your talent throughout the season on a project basis.
  • Mentoring - NEW this season, we are looking for families at the mite, squirt, U8-U12 levels to help welcome and mentor new hockey families!
  • Volunteer - Are you a social networker? We could use your skills to help recruit and train volunteers to fill roles across the association.
