Title:                     Facility Manager

Sartell Youth Recreation Center (SYRC) is seeking a Facility Manager for the SCHEELS Athletic Complex, comprising of Bernick’s Arena and the new RDR Arena. The SCHEELS Athletic Complex is a multiuse facility located in the heart of Sartell. Since 2004 the SYRC has served as a venue for various events with key partnerships with the Sartell Youth Hockey Association and the Sartell-St Stephen School District.

The Facility Manager will manage and conduct all the business of the SYRC, subject to the direction or policies of the SYRC and its Board of Directors (BOD) as they may be, from time to time, stated either orally or in writing. The Facility Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the SCHEELS Athletic Complex. The responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following roles and responsibilities.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Installation of dasher boards, ice, bleachers
  • Maintenance of ice and turf
  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment such as ice resurfacer, ice refrigeration units, HVAC, audio system, cash registers, skate sharpening, computer equipment, etc.
  • Overseeing all staffing responsibilities -hiring, training, managing, terminating, etc.
  • Scheduling ice times for events and arena functions
  • Cash operations of concession stand, pro shop, etc.
  • Concessions stand operation including staffing, food/supply inventory management, and adhering to food/drink rules and regulations
  • Promote and sell dasher board and banner advertising (unless separate contract arrangements have been made with outside vendor)
  • Assist with preparing annual budget, paying bills, and report monthly financials to the BOD.
  • Promote and secure rental for additional "seasonal" leagues such as spring/fall hockey, adult hockey, lacrosse, soccer, etc.
  • Promote and secure facility rental for "dry-floor'' activities such as trade shows, car shows, circus, concerts, etc.
  • General maintenance and care of facility including ice arena, lobby, restrooms, exterior of building and grounds.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Expertise:

  • A degree in business, sports management, or equivalent is desired
  • Thorough knowledge of ice manufacturing in an arena environment
  • General knowledge of equipment, motors, refrigeration and building maintenance
  • Managerial experience is preferred

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • General computer skills such as email, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Communicate effectively with customers
  • Manage conflict tactfully and professionally
